Stop Cocoa Slavery

Many people don't know the fact that chocolate companies such as Hershey's, support child slavery. In Cote D'Ivoire (Western Africa). Children are tricked into forced labor at a cocoa plantations around the coast.  They are told that they would be paid and educated, (which is important to them since they are in extreme poverty) so their parents sell their children for $30 (in U.S money). The plantation owners take the children far away so the children have no idea where they are. The children (ages 7-19) work and are never paid or educated. If they refuse to work or try to break free they have severe punishments. If they try to leave it's just bad luck, they could be beaten to death.   Not only is their punishment harsh, after forced labor they are stuffed in a small shack to sleep on wood planks with a baseball sized window with at least 30 other children. Think about their lives in comarison to yours. Thousands of candy bars are consumed each day and  thousands of children suffer to provide them. Eat Fairtrade! Save Lives

The companies that support child slavery are Hershey's, Nestle, Lindt, Godiva, Ghirardelli,M&M, and Tootsie Roll. So if you buy this chocolate you are supporting child slavery. There are other alternatives. There is chocolate that has a symbol or says fair trade. This means no child slavery was involved. You can save lives. You can help.
